Abstract:

Driven by theever-increasing user connectivity demands, emerging and future generations ofIEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi will be capable of achieving multiple gigabits per secondspeeds and be used to support from simple web browsing and peer-to-peersharing, to multimedia streaming, real-time teleconferencing, cablereplacement, and wireless docking etc. his work shop aims at providing a timelydiscussion to the state-of-the-art and the future directions of Wi-Fitechnologies. Further, it aims at addressing key technical challenges in designand implementation of future Wi-Fi.

Biography:

Zhou Lan (IEEE802.11af TG Vice Chair)

Dr. Lan receivedhis B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Beijing University ofPosts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, in 2000and 2005, respectively. Dr. Lan is with Hwawei CT Lab as a principle researchengineer. He was with National Institute of Information and CommunicationsTechnology (NICT) of Japanas a senior researcher. His research interests include high speed wirelessPHY/MAC design, large scale simulation platform development, and hardwareimplementation. Dr. Lan has published over 40 papers in major IEEE journals andconferences. He has been serving as TPC vice chair of IEEE PIMRC 2009, TPCmember of IEEE Globecom, ICC and WCNC. Dr. Lan served as assistant editor ofIEEE 802.15.3c mmWave WPAN task group and is serving as vice chair of IEEE802.11af task group. He is the recipient of the IEEE SA outstandingcontribution awards for the development of IEEE 802.15.3c and IEEE 802.11ad Standards.Dr. Lan has more than 100 technical contributions in IEEE 802.11, 802.15standards and Wi-Fi alliance. Dr. Lan is a senior member of IEEE. He is alsothe secretary of IEICE Short Range Wireless Communication (SRW) committee.
